Village Chief Stands Up for Pastor

Village Chief Stands Up for PastorGuilty or innocent? This question consumed the minds of all the people in the village meeting. Villagers had accused Pastor Caka of causing disunity in the village and teaching the people of his congregation to keep away from the other villagers. All sides were heard—now it was up to the village chief to give the final word.

Opposition and False Accusations

It all started when the mother of Sadar, a believer in the village, died. She had not chosen to follow Christ, and neither did her youngest son, with whom she lived. Because they clung to their traditional religion, her youngest son prepared a burial service according to their religious customs.

When Sadar, because he was the oldest son and according to tradition, was asked to perform the religious rituals, he refused. He chose to stand fast in his faith in the Lord Jesus and didn’t want to dishonor the Lord by following his old religion. Sadar respectfully and promptly arranged for someone else to carry his mother’s casket to the graveyard, but his brother was enraged with his actions. When he discussed the matter with the villagers, they grew angry and spoke against Sadar, saying his actions were completely wrong.

The villagers began to accuse Pastor Caka for causing disunity among the villagers. They said he had been teaching the believers to not take part in the village activities and discouraging them from mingling with the other villagers in weddings and burial services.

Anger arose among them, and they plotted to throw Pastor Caka out of the village. Because of this incident, a village meeting was held. Everyone, including the believers, gathered together to address the misunderstanding.

Village Chief Pleads Pastor’s Case

By the amazing mercies of God, the village chief aptly heard both sides and found no evidence of the accusations called out against Pastor Caka. The chief warned the villagers not to disturb the believers and gave everyone the freedom of their own choice of religion. If anyone went against his words, he said, they would be punished.

The village chief stood up for justice and for Pastor Caka. Now the believers have the freedom to worship the Lord without outright persecution!
