I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes . . .” NAME: GFA STAFF Fred and Luci L O C AT I O N : Texas USA F red knows that his service at GFA is making it possible for thousands of people to hear the Gospel. “I am going to see those brothers and sisters in heaven!” Fred exclaims. Fred and his wife, Luci, have served at Gospel for Asia since 1981. Today Fred is a liaison for GFA President K.P. Yohannan, and Luci serves on the president’s administrative team. Fred was the ministry’s second full-time staff member. He and Luci have watched K.P.’s vision— sending Asian native missionaries to preach the Gospel in their own nations—become an exciting reality. “I could see from his determination and faith that God was going to use the ministry, even though we were really small,” Fred remembers. “It just seemed to be the right answer for reaching the millions.” The couple credits prayer with propelling the ministry forward. They have spent countless hours spreading maps out on the floor and praying over the countries before them. They’ve even prayed for dozens of individual unreached people groups in Asia. Today, most of the people in those countries can hear the Gospel through a GFA Radio broadcast or missionary. 30 | send! | www.gfa.org Fred and Luci know they are working where God called them, but they admit it hasn’t always been easy. There were days when their faith was severely tested and they were tempted to walk away. Yet each time, God renewed their vision. “God called me here,” Luci says. “He knows the trials and He’s in charge, and I need to trust Him.” The couple’s two sons, Stephen and Samuel, now both serve at the ministry, as does Stephen’s wife, Jen. “We never said to them, ‘You have to do this,’ ” Luci explains. “What we did tell them was they needed to be able to say, ‘This is what God called me to do.’ ” Fred is excited that a second generation of his family is committed to reaching Asia. “That’s pure joy!” he says. And Luci remarks that this joy extends to those who could become part of her heavenly family. “I think about that village grandmother or grandfather who has never heard the name of Jesus,” she says. “Whatever we’re doing here brings the Gospel to them.” Is God calling you to help reach Asia with His love?
