Armor in the Battle Against Bitter Cold

Gifts of winter clothing help film-team members such as Penni (pictured on the right with her co-laborer) to share the love of Jesus through every season of the year.

Penni pulled the heavy knit of her newly gifted sweater down over her torso. The other two women of Penni’s film team were also bundled in cozy sweaters. Insulated from the winter chill, the women maneuvered the film equipment in a well-rehearsed and orchestrated dance of poles, sheets and electronics in preparation for a movie showing.

The three-woman film team went about the village during the day, encouraging the locals to come to the film show—despite the cold weather—to hear about the love of God poured out for mankind. Penni and her team knew it would be difficult and the cold would keep people from attending. But she also knew how important her ministry was and how one show could change people’s lives. Wrapped in her new sweater, shielding herself from the biting cold, she pressed on. And prayed.

Film teams, like Pasha’s team (pictured), travel to remote areas, often by foot.

Changing Seasons, Changing Needs

Going into the remotest places, where many had never heard that God loves them, Penni and her team of faithful women endured hot, humid summers and especially cold winters. Receiving the gift of warm sweaters to combat the damp evening cold encouraged Pasha. The gift reminded her that she was not alone, that she was cared for and loved, and that people were praying for her.

These gifts allowed Penni and her team to show the film on even the coldest nights.  The villagers do not have to wait another day to hear the message of God’s love for them.

Determination and Winter Clothing Open Doors

Aadarsh, like Penni, also served on a film team working in a cold climate. Nestled against the base of the Himalayas, the villages where he ministered shut down during the cold months, the residents barely stirring once the sun went down.

Looking for creative ways to combat the cold so people could see the film, Aadarsh found a large hut that could accommodate a lot of people. He started showing the film in the hut to ward against the cold evenings.

Seeing his determination and fervor, Aadarsh’s leader asked for a winter clothing packet to help Aadarsh in his ministry. The clothing Aadarsh received enabled him to go out on the coldest days, sharing about the film, and stay warm throughout the night as he packed up his equipment at the end of the film show.

A Tangible Encouragement

Serving in cold climates can be especially challenging for film teams who spend their days and evenings outside promoting and showing the film. Gifts of winter clothes help our brothers and sisters in cold climates to persevere in showing God’s love visually in remote places.

“It gives warmth, and I feel good wearing it,” Aadarsh says. “I thank God and my leaders for providing me with winter clothes. It is really encouraging.”

Read how one villager could “see how much Jesus loves the people, [how He even] died on the cross to redeem us from our sins.”

I’m reminded once more what a difference these workers can make in the lives of lost souls.. Abba Father please cover these dear people under the shelter of Your wings and go before them, softening the heart of lost & causing them to turn to You. Protect them from the scorching heat and bone chilling cold, and all dangers as they press on for You. Amen

    Good evening Gospel For Asia,

My name is Dean and I live in Orleans Ontario. I just recently gave your organization/ministry a donation for a “Winter Clothing Package”. Thank you kindly for writing back to me. I just finished reading this heart felt story about Pasha and her team of faithful woman & how they travel by foot in very cold & frigid weather conditions. It is truly a very special blessing that they arrive in each little town to promote & share the Gospel message and showing films and handing out literature. While I was reading through this information I came what with a beautiful thought that Pasha & her team could be much warmer by wearing Heated Jackets, Heated Parka’s & heated sweaters & heated mitts/gloves. I am doing research on companies in Canada & the USA that make/manufacture these types of clothing products. I will also research the country of India if they carry such products. Could you please tell me if this could be possible to send all the different heated clothing to God’s very special messengers & ministers while they continue to do God’s work.

    Kingdom Blessings,

    God Bless,

    Dean
