Bridge of Hope Student Gives Back

Bridge of Hope boy reading - Gospel for Asia - KP YohannanEight young pairs of eyes locked onto Agrima, who stood in front of them. Each child listened intently to his words, waiting for his instruction. Agrima was barely a teenager, yet he was making a difference in the lives and education of the children around him.

Agrima came from a poor family. His father was a carpenter who worked hard every day to provide for his family’s needs. When Agrima came to be a student at a Bridge of Hope center, he studied and worked hard like his father—and it paid off. Agrima became a brilliant student and was at the top of his ninth-grade class.

The young boy was not unfamiliar with trials, however. Agrima overcame several hardships in order to do well in his classes, and he knew there were other children who struggled to do the same. He wanted to help younger students excel in their studies, despite their difficult situations. Agrima’s experience at Bridge of Hope inspired him to come alongside other young students and pass along the blessing he had received.

At only 14 years old, he began helping several children in his neighborhood with their studies.  In his spare time, Agrima would host a free tutoring session for an hour and a half in the evenings. He taught eight children, from kindergarten to sixth grade, and grew to think of them as family.

“I care about the problems of my little brothers and sisters,” he said.

Several people in the local area have been deeply moved by Agrima’s dedication and generosity.  They appreciate the time he has sacrificed to help other children.

The love and support of the staff at Gospel for Asia (GFA) Bridge of Hope created a ripple effect, reaching through Agrima and into the heart of the surrounding community. Agrima is grateful to all of the Bridge of Hope staff members for continuing to teach and help him in his studies.

“It is not because of my ability, but it is all because of my teachers’ efforts that I am able to stand in this place,” Agrima says. “All credit goes to my Bridge of Hope teachers.”
